Apple’s Touchpad and Mouse Clicks Merge

It’s a move only Apple could pull off: the touchpad on its new Macbooks is now one with the mouse click button–and there are other cool features, too.
The touchpad’s surface is 39 percent larger, to accommodate the built-in left mouse button. You can’t imagine how seamless it is; you have to try this for yourself. Internally, the touchpad slopes downward, so you can click at the bottom, left, and right sides of the touchpad, but not at the top.
Windows users will love this: In system preferences, you can designate the touchpad to right-click by applying two fingers or a single finger to the right bottom and top corners of it. Not only that, but there are new gesture capabilities as well. You can swipe four fingers to the right or left to switch between applications; four fingers motioning up accesses Expose, and four fingers down brings up the dashboard. Finally, applying three fingers lets you swipe through photos in the iPhoto application. Pretty neat stuff.
